Sabor-Tooth Cat by Fireberd904 Sabor-Tooth Cat by Fireberd904
Another drawing done at work. This one I gave a full background. Most of my animals are floating in white space because I can never decide what kind of setting I want them to be in or I'm afraid I'm going to ruin it if the background doesn't look right. Though I realize that if you're afraid to draw something, you should draw it more often so that you can build up confidence with it. I will try to add more backgrounds to my drawing from now on. I did not have a pencil on hand, so I did a rough sketch in pen and then traced over the lines I liked for the final drawing. He's not perfect, but drawing him helped me relax during the stressful work day. I've been getting a lot of inspiration lately from one of my favorite children's book authors/illustrators Bill Peet. I loved his books when I was a kid and still enjoy them today. His illustrations are so fun and whimsical. I looked up a lot of his work online while drawing this cat.

I love working with colored pencil but scanning them is a nightmare. If you have ever tried scanning colored pencil drawings, you probably already know this. I had to mess with it in Photoshop for a while before the scan looked acceptable. It's still a bit off from the original.
